Topic: DEALING WITH BITTERNESS.
Bible Reading: Hebrew 12:15-16, Genesis 4:1-13.
One of the major danger to the life of a man under grace is bitterness (rancor, hatred), because it puncture grace bag and make it to lick away on knowingly. Therefore, the scripture warned us to look diligently to pick on any sign of bitterness that may want to spring up in us. Not only to watch against it, but to deal with it right from the root, so that it will not make grace to fail on our lives.
This was in the case of Cain against his brother Abel, when the two of them brought offering to the Lord, the scripture said, the offering of Abel was accepted by the Lord because Abel's life was accepted. Vs.4 ."....And the Lord HAD RESPECT UNTO ABEL (that is his person), then the Lord accepted his offering". But the offering of Cain was rejected because cain's lifestyle to God was not acceptable to God. I believe the choice that Abel chose that made his life and offering acceptable to God, Cain has the opportunity to make the same choice also, but he chose otherwise. Instead for Cain to look diligently to his own life, to why God accept Abel's offering but his own was rejected. He didn't do that, he began to envy his brother and blamed him for his predicament. God was trying to get attention of Cain, to watch out against the spirit of bitterness, but he didn't listen to God, because he was already blinded and deafened by bitterness against his brother. After Cain committed crime to manifest his bitterness against his brother, the result was a release of God's anger against Cain, if he has handled that spirit when God warned him, he would have found grace.
Therefore, you must avoid blaming anyone, or anything outside you, for whatever happen to you, some even blame God for not blessing them, or because their prayers are not yet answered. Envy and blame sharing feeds the spirit of bitterness to make it stronger, so if you have such attitude to life, then stop it and kill it, because they will give room to bitterness in your life.
What you need to do to deal with the spirit of bitterness is to allow the love of God to be shed abroad in your hearts, and love for the people. You must come to a level that the love of God is unconditional in your heart. When the love for God dominates and rule your heart, you can deal with bitterness in your lives, and thereby, you will never fail from the grace of God. Let forgiveness and love dominates you, and there shall be no bitterness near your life.
Prayer Point: Pray against every spirit of bitterness that may want to spring up in your life, and pray that you will never fail in the grace of God, but rather to be stronger in grace life in Jesus name.
