DAILY PRECEPTS DEVOTION GUIDE
Topic: MERCY WITHDRAWN.
Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 7:5-17.
“But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.”
God sent Nathan the prophet of David to him, to go and tell David how impressive it was for God to see him thinking of doing great things for God in his reign. And the Lord covenanted with David that He will never withdraw His mercy as it was taken away from Saul. Now it is so clear that the disposition of God's mercy to a man is correlated to the man's response to God. Let's look at some characters of Saul that can led to mercy withdrawal, which we must avoid.
1. Saul was a stubborn man that the same sin of rebellion to God was the major bone of contention between him and God, yet he refused to listen to God and correct his ways despite all the warnings he recieved. 1 Sam.15:22-23.
2. Saul was a man who loves the praise of men more than praise of God. He preferred to please men even if he will displeased God, he loved to be in good books of men, even if he will be in black book of God. So it was too difficult for him to please God. And when he wouldn't change his ways to God. 1 Sam.15:30-31.
God has no option but to withdraw his divine mercy from Saul, then all that MERCY brought to him he lost them. I don't know how a man can live and enjoy when mercy of God has been withdrawn. May the mercy of God never be withdrawn from you.
Prayer Points: Pray that God will show things in your heart and lifestyles that can lead to the mercy of God been withdrawn from you.
