Bible Reading: Proverb 18:16, 1 Samuel 16:14-21.
Many believed that others are more opportune than they are, and that is why things are going well for those people but not for them. So instead of taking the challenge of looking at what to do to make things work, no, they rather go on blaming this and that.
But we need to understand that God has given everyone what it takes to rise in life, and your gifts, talents, skills etc. Play major part of it. Proverb 18:16, says,
"The gift of a man makes room for him, and brings him before great men."
If you will rise in life and sit with the great, your gifts is one of the keys to open that room. But someone will say I have my own gifts, so why are things not working for me?
You also need to know that it is not just what you can do that open doors of great places for you, but how well can you do it?
When Saul started having trouble moment of his life by an evil spirit that torments him, his servants raised the motion to get someone that can play harp so that when evil spirit comes around to trouble Saul, such harp player can play and the spirit will relive Saul. Then the king approved the motion, but see the clause put by the king on the kind of player they will bring in verse 17,
"And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man THAT CAN PLAY WELL, and bring him to me."
When the servants was to get someone for Saul they picked on David to come before the king, why? Because of the qualities of how he is doing what he knows to do. He was said to be a skillful player of harp, that was why he got to the palace. Because doors of great places will just open to you because what you can do, but it will open to what you can do well.
So, it is true you know what you can do, but how well can you do it?
Therefore, decide to give your ability all it takes to get yourself well improved, until you can do very well that which you know you can do. This is the key to great places, see you there soon in Jesus name.
