Bible Reading: Romans 9:15-16, 2 Samuel 9:1-13.
One of the word that God gave us to walk with in this new year is this word on God's mercy. Romans 9:16 says;
"So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy."
This is given us the secret to have a view of yourself not in our power and might of ourselves but in the accomplished of God's divine mercy. Though, we are not to sit down fold our hands and just watch, but as we walk and work we should look to God for the reality of his mercy to join our effort. Let us look at the a biblical example of a man lifted by mercy.
This power of divine mercy was seen manifested in the experience of Mephibosheth son of Jonathan. A lame man, abandoned and left to die, but when God decided to show him mercy, his life took a new turn and everthing changed for good. Let's see this in the experience of Mephibosheth from the scripture read today.
1. It makes people you know or you don't know remember you for good without begging for it. Mephibosheth was hidden somewhere called Lodebar, thinking the last has come, things would never be better again, he lost his father, grandfather, and his siblings killed for envy, others were killed as atonement for the sin of his grandfather. And the man that suppose to take revenge of his grandfather on him, suddenly remembered him for good. That kind of result is not a function of what Mephibosheth has done but the mercies of God.
2. It restores to a man the lost glory of his/her life, either in his life or his linage. David said to Mephibosheth, the land of your father I will return them unto you. Imagine how long it will take Mephibosheth a lame man to work to gather money much enough to buy back those lands that his royal family had lost, but on the platform of the mercy of God through David, Mephibosheth got them free of charge, all within 24 hours.
3. It changes a man's level. It lifts a man to a position you can't reach on your own. David said to him, you shall eat from my table like one of the king's sons. Despite his physical challenge, yet as a lame man the kindness of God found him out and changed his story forever. May you enjoy the mercy of God all through 2021 and your story shall changed for good in live in Jesus name.
Prayer Point: Pray that you will be positioned at the angle of the power of God's mercy throughout 2021 and all the days of your life in Jesus name.
