DAILY PRECEPTS DEVOTIONAL STUDY
Bible Reading: Genesis 39:7-13, 6:5-7
Reason why people don't run away or better still has the scripture said, flee from sin, is that sin does not carry weight to them. The day sin begin to carry weight to a person he/she will not need extra push to flee away from it. Hear what Joseph said to the wife of Potiphar; "how can I do this GREAT WICKEDNESS and sin against God?" He called it great wickedness. He didn't say, ma, please, I don't want to sin. No!. Even saying it that way is even more polite compared to the way our generation has taken light of it.
He put some adjective on sin, that will always make sin look untouchable for him, and that was his security from sin. If not sin would have taken away his destiny.
It is the way a man see sin that makes him/her take light of sin, in our days the Devil has given new names to sin, this generation call fornication fun, adultery they call it affairs. Until you call sin what God call it and see it the way God sees it, you will not separate yourself from it. What are the weight you should know about sin.
1. The weight of its disappointment to God - If you know how much God want to trust you, if you won't take it for granted, and if you know the weight of its disappointment to God, you will not like to move close to sin. Gen.6:5-6. God felt sorry for man and regretted He made man on the earth, because of their sins.
2. The weight of its impact on you - If you know the weight of the negative impact of sin on your life you will run away from it. Gen.6:7, God said I will destroy man from the earth. Don't forget, the wages of sin is death.
3. The weight of the judgement - If you know the judgement or the consequences of the sin when you commit it, you will run away from it. God said in Genesis 6:7, I will destroy man from the earth, but there are greater judgement of living a life of sin, that goes beyond this world, that punishment is eternal condemnation in hell. Galatians 5:18-21. May you receive the grace to flee away from.
The solution to flee from sin is to recieve Jesus into your life and let him become your Lord, then you allow the word of God to take control of your life. And the power of the new life in Christ shall keep you.
Prayer Point: Pray that every works of the flesh in you dies, and that God will give you grace to flee away from temptation and ability to stand against sin.
