THE PRECEPTS - Topic: REIGNING BUT NOT RELEVANT
Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 13:1-8, Acts 13:21-22.
It is not just important that you are reigning in any position you find yourself but it is important that you are relevant in God's program on the earth. Don't just be active in life but be effective. A lot of people struggle for power but they lack the prowess that makes the power work. Many people today are in different position but God has removed them, they are popular with men but not relevant to God.
Saul was the example of this, in the passage read above it was said that he reigned for two years as king over Israel. Then, there was a war between Israel and the Philistine, and Saul led the battle against Philistine. Samuel told him to wait for seven days that on the seventh day, he will come as the priest and prophet of God to offer sacrifice unto God before proceeding to the battle. Then on the seventh day Saul was impatient to wait for Samuel, therefore, he went ahead to enter into an office and perform a function that God has not assigned him, by sacrificing to The Lord which is solely in the office of the priest. After this has been done, Samuel came and said to Saul, why did you do the sacrifice? Saul then started giving flimsy excuses, then Samuel said to Saul, if you have obeyed the instruction of The Lord and you have waited for me to do the sacrifice, this day would The Lord have established your kingdom for you and forever with your generation but with this that you have done, your kingdom shall not continue, and God has raised a neighbor of yours to replace you. This is just after two years of the reign of Saul as king over Israel.
Remember after this time Saul went ahead in his disobedience to God and at a time the scripture said that God did not speak again to Saul either by Urim neither through dream nor the Prophets,1 Samuel 28:5-6. why because God was done with Saul, and God has moved on, Saul was no longer relevant with God's program in Israel. This was after just two years of his reign, but going to the scripture by the time Saul was living the throne as a result of his death in the battle, the bible said he reigned for Forty years as king over Isreal. Acts 13:21-22. Meaning that Saul was there reigning as king in Israel for Thirty-Eight years and was not relevant to God's program. Therefore, it becomes very important to ask yourself, in the position you are occupying today in family, church, ministry, school, company, city, and the rest, are you just reigning or you are relevant to God's program. I pray for you, may you not just be reigning but be relevant with what God is doing presently in your place and in your days on the earth.
