Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 8:1-22.
The first Two kings of Israel are Saul and David, and we know the part they played in the life of the people of Israel. Saul was a disappointment to the people, his reign was not pleasant but a terrible memories for the Isrealites. And we have David who was a God fearing king, there are undeniable record of victories during his reign, in his days Israelites knew God and were happy, but it was not so during Saul's reign. But the different to the two kings was their choice of selection before reigning, Saul was man made, but David was God's made for Isreal. Isreal rejected the sons of Samuel from reigning as judge over them, so they requested for a king over them so that they can be like other nations, when Samuel prayed to God on that request of Isreal, God said to Samuel to show Isreal the kind of King that is available for them. When he shew them they replied; no problem with that kind of a king only give us a king like other nations. Then Samuel went ahead to give them Saul, thus, Saul became king of Isreal. But the result of Saul's reign was not palatable at all. After 40 years God removed Saul, but before then, God said to Samuel go to the house of Jese, I have made myself for Isreal a king among his children, all I want you to do is get there and anoint him. And the reign of David was a great blessing to Isreal, that he bacame the measure of the level of how a good any king would be to Isreal. So you hear about good kings of Isreal, bible will say, he did good things in the sight of The Lord but not as David the king. Therefore, it becomes important to know that life is not only about what you want, but who do you want to be the source of supply to what you want, is it the Devil, Man or God? A life partner, job, money, house, connection, etc. know that anything God can give you in the natural the Devil also can give you. But it is your choice to determine from whom do you want to get it. When Devil is to give you things it started by conveteousness and comparison with your friends or neighbor. Isreal said give us king like other nation. Never find yourself in that class, because the end result will not be palatable to you. Never put God under pressure to do what you want Him to do, rather, allow Him to do for you what He plans to do. Know that God's way of giving us something has to do with two things. 1). Divine Timing - That is God doing things for you according to His own divine schedule for your life. Eccl. 2) Divine Processing - This is God, working on you to give you a personal development that can make you mature to handle the blessings that God is bringing to your life. Let God work on you to make you what you ought to be for God. So as to fulfill your destiny and purpose on the earth. There is a different in somebody given you a ready made cloth and the one that is deliberately sew for you by considering your size. The given one may be too tight, too loose, or too long, because you were not in view at the preparation of the cloth, but when a cloth is sew for you, the Tailor has to put your size into consideration because you were the focus at the preparation of the dress. So, Israel felt they needed a king in an hurry, and they put pressure on God to give then one that is available though not suitable, but by the time God was removing Saul, God has taken time to raised David as a king for them, which was a blessing to Isreal. So make your choice today which one do you want, man made husband, wife, job etc, or you will allow God to take His time and make ready for you a husband, wife, job etc that will suit your destiny that will bring you blessing and happiness.
